Will a urinary tract infection urine test show that I have smoked marijuana?

  • asked on Mon, 15 Feb, 2010
I may have to take another test to see if my urinary tract infection has gone away, but I have smoked weed. Do you think it will register on the test?
  • Mrs. S replied on Mon, 15 Feb, 2010
Only if they are looking for it which is highly unlikely. They would need to perform a specific test for drug residue, which I doubt they will do since they are testing for bacteria.

They would never test for THC by-products in a medical test for a UTI. It costs to much extra money. Your health insurance provider would never pay for that unnecessary extra testing. In addition you can tell your doctor about anything you have done. There are strict laws about doctor and patient confidentiality. Within reason of course. You can't tell them you are about to commit a murder or that you grow 4000 marijuana plants. Obviously. However you can ask them about the adverse health affects of you using marijuana for recreational. You have no reason to fear legal recourse. I told my doctor many times that I smoke weed. The only thing you may have to worry about is your insurance premium may rise due to your smoking. Although I cannot quote laws pertaining that. Your doctor might be able to disclose information to your provider about it... which could disqualify you from coverage. Although this is all highly unlikely as you are getting tested for a UTI. Your health insurance would never condone unnecessary testing. Good luck don't be to paranoid even though it's really difficult sometimes!!! :)
